Two Black Men Who Ordered Nothing At A US Restaurant Get Arrested (Photos)

Starbucks has apologised after staff in Philadelphia called police to arrest two black men who refused to leave a store.

The coffee chain has been accused of racism over the incident in Philadelphia and the hashtag #BoycottStarbucks became the top trending term in the US.

The saga began when the two men, who have not been named, sat down in a branch of Starbucks but did not order anything.

They said they were waiting for a friend.

When one of them asked to use the bathroom, staff refused saying they were only for the use of paying customers.

The men were then asked to leave.

When they refused, police were called to reports of trespassing.

Officers said they tried to reason with the men, asking them to leave on their own accord, but when they continued to refuse they were arrested.

The friend they were waiting for turned up as the two men were being led away in handcuffs, according to reports.

Melissa DePino witnessed the incident and shared a video which has since gone viral.

She said the men did “nothing wrong” and there was no need for them to be arrested.

In a tweet she wrote: “The police were called because these men hadn’t ordered anything. “They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing. “All the other white ppl are wondering why it’s never happened to us when we do the same thing.”

Philadelphia Police chief Richard Ross said his officers did “absolutely nothing wrong”.
