One dead, others injured as trailer rams into fuel queue in Enugu (PHOTOS)

A trailer loaded with cattle on Christmas day killed one person and injured others in a multiple car crash in Enugu.

The incident occurred at Naira Triangle, near the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation mega filling station.

It was gathered that the driver of the trailer suddenly lost control and rammed into four vehicles and tricycles who were on the long queue to buy fuel.

A passenger in one of the tricycles hit in the clash simply identified as Mr. Okoye reportedly died on the spot.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirming the incident on Tuesday said the intervention of the police stopped a mob from burning the trailer and the cows.

Amaraizu said the victims were rushed immediately to Parklane Hospital in Enugu for treatment.

He said, “The prompt intervention of the operatives of the New Haven Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command, stopped some aggrieved members of the public, who wanted to burn the trailer with the entire cattle, from taking the laws into their own hands.”
