Yen Planning recently announced that its actor Kenichi Morozumi had died at the age of 67.

Morozumi is most known in the fighting game world as the voice actor for Sergei Dragunov in the Tekken series, which he has played since the character’s debut 17 years ago.

Yan Palnning expressed its condolences to the voice actor, Kenichi Morozumi. The message reads, “Our thoughts go out to Morozumi’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time, and his work will be immortalized as the deadly serpent of Tekken.”

Morozumi reportedly passed away on September 1, 2022. Kenichi Morozumi cause of death was ischemic heart failure. Although it seems that his death news is only now spreading outside of Japan.

Morozumi’s first passion in the arts was stage performance and theater in 1979, but he also began participating in voice acting roles in the 1980s. This isn’t the first time a Tekken actor has died in recent years; Unsho Ishizuka, who has been the voice of Heihachi Mishima since Tekken Tag Tournament 2, died in 2018.

Who is Kenichi Morozumi?

Kenichi Morozumi was the Japanese voice actor for Sergei Dragunov, playing him from his debut in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection until Tekken 7. Kenichi Morozumi was born on 11 January 1955, in Yamanashi, Japan. Fighting game fans first encountered the actor in 2005. Dragunov made his debut in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection in 2005. He continued to serve as the Russian fighter’s voice actor through Tekken 7.

Tekken 8 is presently in development and set for release in 2023. However, it’s not known whether Morozumi has already recorded lines for Dragunov and will reprise his role one last time.

In addition, Morozumi had voiced characters in several anime and motion pictures, such as Kiyoshi Yoshioka in Gantz, Takahashi in Monster, Arthur in Soul Eater, Goodman in Terra Formars, and Fujiwara in Black Laggon.
