‘Skeem Saam’ actress Nozi Langa to star in Mzansi Magic’s ‘Umbuso’

For almost six years actress Nozi Langa Malao has played a sweet, somewhat timid and naive Glenda on Skeem Saam.

But now, her fans will get to see her in a different light as she takes on one of the lead roles in a new Mzansi Magic telenovela titled Umbuso. The drama series is set to premiere on Sunday 3 April at 20:00 on channel 161.

NOZI LANGA ON HER NEW ROLE

The 28-year-old actress told Drum Magazine that she will be stepping out of her comfort zone as she portrays Bassie Matlala.

Nozi Langa describes her new character as a young married woman, who is hardworking and wealthy.

“… as much as she has been married into a wealthy family, she has her core values like on working hard and working towards your dreams, and making those dreams come true,” she tells the publication.

Speaking about some of her most challenging scenes thus far in the new series, she says that showing her angry side was the hardest. The actress says it was most difficult to tap into that emotion because she describes herself as someone who does not get angry or raise her voice.

“There are scenes wherein one of the challenges Bassie faces she gets so angry, and we see this other side of her and I, in my personal capacity, I am not able to get angry and raise my voice but in her character capacity, she does raise her voice. It was the first time for me that I was challenged to be this person who is angry and I do not know anger like that.”
