South African actor, producer and co-founder of Ferguson Films, Shona Ferguson, has died. He was 47.

Conrad Mwanza, a representative from the Ferguson Foundation confirmed the news to NgNews247 on Friday.

Ferguson died at Milpark hospital on Friday afternoon. “Yes, Mr Ferguson passed away at noon today. And all the family is asking for at the moment is just to mourn in private. But it’s very difficult, you can imagine, for Connie and the family,” Mwanza said.

2. He was a Batswana-born, South African actor, executive producer and co-founder of Ferguson Films
3. Ferguson started his journey into the world of entertainment in Lesotho as a club DJ at The Palace Hotel Night Club in 1992.
4. He started his acting career as Ace on the South African TV series Generations.
5. Ferguson married actress Connie Masilo in November 2001. In June 2002, they welcomed their only daughter and child, Alicia Angel.
6. He, along with wife Connie Ferguson, established Ferguson Films and both starred on their film production’s first series Rockville.
7. As of 2021, they had produced Rockville, iGazi, The Gift, The Throne, The Herd, The Queen, The River and The Imposter.

10. In late July 2021, after having complained of chest pains then admitted to Milpark Hospital, Ferguson underwent heart surgery. On the afternoon of 30 July, according to a statement issued on Ferguson Film’s Instagram account, he died. His cause of death was given as COVID-19 related complications.
