Oyetola Fully Supports Amotekun – Charles Adeyemi

The Senior Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Strategic Communication, Mr Charles Adeyemi has declared that the Governor is in full support of Amotekun.

Adeyemi debunked rumour that the Governor was not in full support of the security outfit despite participating in the joint inauguration.

Adeyemi insisted that Oyetola is in full support of the security outfit and that the Governor had been discussing the need for community policing before the idea of Amotekun was conceived.

The SSA averred that Oyetola had canvassed the need for community policing which includes involving locals in the operations.

“As a matter of fact, he (Oyetola) has once advised Inspector general of police to domesticate policing so that police officers who left their ethnic zone to work in other zones will not have problems identifying criminals. An Igbo man working in the North will need people on ground who understand their terrain, that’s the reason for civilian JTF and that’s the reason for Amotekun.

“Earlier, Osun has been engaging stakeholders and grassroot people on security; a security summit has been organised even before the Joint security idea of southwestern governors came to the fore. It’s mischievous for anyone to to say Governor Oyetola is not in support of Amotekun.

“It is also instructive to sensitize our people, that the two governors of Ekiti and Ondo are the leaders of Nigeria Governors forum and southwestern governors forum respectively and are spokespersons for their colleagues. Even though all the governors have spoken concerning the matter.

“What is necessary now is for the entire people of goodwill especially Yoruba people to rally round our southwest governors to achieve this idea fully and rid Yoruba land of banditry, terrorism and possible invasion of criminality,” Adeyemi added.
