NOW THAT COMR. DANLAB ADMINISTRATION IS COMING TO AN END By Reporter G.song 

DANLAB’S Administration: you will verge with me that the moment of beginning is almost ending in a moment . A frequent question students of Federal polytechnic Ede ask continually is what dividend have we enjoyed?

Going by public comments and reactions, students of Federal polytechnic Ede are beginning to wonder if they were not misled into voting Comr. Alabi Daniel O.

In a democracy, elected leaders are accountable to the public they govern,that is why the conundrum remains who shall be hold accountable to the Students of great Polytechnic Ede if not the SU President in person of Comr. Alabi Daniel O.?

“If we can’t make any difference and make happy the student masses then Government is yet to be realized because happiness does not come from doing easy work if you don’t know it is from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task”

To all intents and purposes, the clamour for the restructuring of the Federal Polytechnic Ede Student’s Union was driven by a patriotic zeal to re-engineer the ship and steer Federal Polytechnic Ede Student’s Union away from the then fragmentation and ruin but alas fidgety and a hand crossed from responsibilities is what was givenaway,apparently Students’ Unions no longer serve the idea for which they were originally intended .

Reader, you need not be told that Student Union is to be committed to support all students from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences which acts as student official representation and advocacy on campus. It represents the voice of the students .

However, As we see the end way to this present administration, the Danlab led administration have long been weighed in the balances and have been found wanting .

Students of Federal polytechnic Ede on Several occasions have blamed their Students’ Union leaders for ineffectiveness in Governance . This is coming following the Union state of being incapable of accomplishing or effecting anything for the students masses which the students of the School ascribed as helplessness, impotence, inadequacy and powerlessness.

Since the emergence of this Present SU Administration no development have been engineered or archived . Instead, students saw downward slope of activities such as declivities in the social life (TGIF Thank God is Friday) that was budgeted for,the Directorate of student’s affair perceived the declivities and reprimanded the social director’s office for the sake of necessities .

One common denominator between Danlab led Administration and the Students is that the administration is yet to identify with the student’s yearnings for a reduction in the cost of transportation and amelioration in transport system which will release bottle in the neck of students . Despite the subscription of compulsory Three Thousand five hundred naira 3,500) transport Development levy imposed by the management in the School tuition nonetheless students of the institution till suffers a setback , you will recall that Students have long showed there grievances over the transportation situation in the School as transportation in and out of the institution has been difficult , students of Federal polytechnic Ede are seen in large numbers queuing and waiting for buses to convey them to the north and south of the School,not forgetting the union buses scandal both Student bus and aluta bomb.

It has been a wasted period and a dismal outlook of a failed tenure for the leadership which can not produce a favourable result and make a difference,students of Federal Polytechnic Ede will concur with me that It is the same rhetoric about promising the people an improved quality of Government but short on delivery. Transportation and Public confidence are DANLAB’s administration biggest challenges however the leadership have failed to go round table in confronting the transport hassle and with this we can easily say that the welfarism of dear students is not of crucial value neither is it pivotal to Danlab led Administration since Peaceful negotiation and demonstration is expected long ago from the Student’s Union and peaceful demonstration is highly welcome in any bureaucracy system , it is a mechanism of bargaining for dialogue and is definitely a more viable option in getting the school authorities to listen to students’ grievances and explore opportunities for dialogue.

Most of the disagreements between students and Federal polytechnic Ede authorities are caused by lack of communication gaps, leaders who cannot communicate to authorities the frustrations of the students.

May I tell the president that , as emphasis been laid on the transportation situation in the School, Government exists for the interests of the governed who are the students however if students demands not met before the changing of power then ignoble excrescences of failure shall be indented on his Administration and he shall be call failure.
