Mourinho Eyes Kiwior to Bolster Roma’s Defense

AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly requested that the club sign Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior in the January transfer window. According to the Italian publication Romagiallorossa, Mourinho is seeking to strengthen his backline in preparation for the second half of the season.

“I’m a big admirer of Jakub Kiwior,” Mourinho is quoted as saying. “He’s a young, talented defender with a lot of potential. I believe he could make a significant contribution to our team.”

Kiwior joined Arsenal from Italian club Spezia Calcio in January for a fee of €25 million. However, he has struggled for regular playing time at Emirates Stadium, serving as a backup to first-choice left center-back Gabriel.

“I’m not getting the game time I want at Arsenal,” Kiwior admitted. “I’m still young and I want to be playing regularly. I’m open to a move in January if the right opportunity arises.”

Roma are looking for a cost-effective solution, as Evan Ndicka will be away on international duty with Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
