Ministerial Screening: Saraki Among Nominees To Face Senators Friday

The Nigerian Senate will Friday screen eight more of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 43 ministerial nominees, Naijaparry understands.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan announced at the end of Thursday’s screening that Goody Jeddy-Agba (Cross River), Dr Osagie Ehanire (Edo), Suleiman Adamu (Jigawa), Hadi Sirika (Katsina), Abubakar Malami (Kebbi), Gbemisola Saraki (Kwara), Mrs Paulen Talen (Plateau) and Muhammdu Dingyadi (Sokoto) would face the senators today.

So far, the Senate has screened 24 of the 43 nominees following the screening of 14 of them on Thursday in addition to the 10 that faced senators on Wednesday.

Those screened Thursday included Sen. Tayo Alasoadura (Ondo), Abubakar Aliyu (Yobe), Mustapha Shehuri (Borno), Retired Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (Kano), Mrs Zuibaru Dada (Niger) and Timipre Slyva (Bayelsa).

Others were Mrs Ramatu Aliyu (Kogi), Niyi Adebayo (Ekiti), Mohammed Abdullahi (Nassarawa), Sunday Dare (Oyo), Muhammadu Bello (Adamawa), Sen. Chris Ngige (Anambra) and Sadiya Umar-Farouk (Zamfara).

The president had forwarded 43 names to the Senate for confirmation.

Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, was said to have personally submitted the ministerial list to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, in the early hours of Tuesday.
