Lekki Toll Gate Makes N 7,764,545,464.5 Billion Per Year, Guess Whose Account The Money Goes Into

The Lagos state government lost N 234 million in 11 days when irate youth boycotted the Lekki Toll Gate to hold the biggest protest ever in the history of Nigeria.

The Lekki Toll Gate has its own target to reach daily, monthly and yearly and it is made possible by the management of the structure, Lekki Concession Company.

One Lagos State Commissioner who spoke to THE PUNCH in private revealed that the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge generates not less than N10m daily, while the Admiralty Circle Plaza along the Lekki-Epe Expressway also makes not less than N16.6m in a day.

At least 80,000 cars use the tollgates every day. The figure could be higher or lower depending on the day of the week. However, since the protests started, the Lekki tollgate has been completely shut, while the Ikoyi one has been left permanently open for people to use without payment,”

According to the statisticians and mathematician’s among the protesters, a huge sum of N21, 272,727.3 million is made per day if the state lost N234 million in 11 days of its closure by the youth. In all, the toll gate makes a whooping sum of N 7,764,545,464.5 billion per year with no one knowing whose account the money goes onto since Bola Tinubu claims he is not the owner of the toll gate.

The real owners and beneficiaries of the toll gate still remain a mystery to the ordinary Nigerian as it is stated that it is a Private Public Partnership. Inquiry minds wonder if the losses incurred by the government is the reason for the attack on the protesters by the military on Tuesday night, 20th October 2020.
