Inmates Jubilate As Shatta Wale Arrives Prison

A video has emerged online showing inmates celebrating as Ghanaian dancehall singer, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, aka Shatta Wale, arrived at the prison for his one-week sentence.

Ngnews247 recalls that the internet was filled with reports last week Monday with reports that the musician was shot at East Legon in Ghana.

Ghanaian police subsequently announced that it had begun an investigation into the alleged gunshot attack.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the singer confirmed the claim, adding that his life was in danger.

He also called out the country’s police for not arresting a prophet who had allegedly announced that he would be shot on October 18.

The singer was later arrested on Tuesday and charged for publication of fake news at the Accra circuit court.

While the presiding judge adjourning the case until the next hearing set for October 26, the singer was denied bail and kept in prison where he will be spending a total of one week.

On Monday, a video emerged online of the singer entering the Ankaful maximum security prison in Ghana.

Inmates at the correctional facility could be seen jubilating in the open as the embattled dancehall singer made his way into the premises.
