#EndSARS: Osun Govt Speaks On When Curfew Will End

The State Government of Osun has said the 24-hour curfew which has expired on Wednesday will now continue indefinite in all part of the state until the safety of every residents is guaranteed.

Recall the curfew was announced on Tuesday when hoodlums were using #EndSARS protest to perpetrate evil, vandalize properties and loot stores of residents of the state.

Osun Government revealed this in a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG Prince Wole Oyebamiji, on Thursday, in Osogbo, state capital of Osun, he said reiterated that the curfew necessitated by the need to rid streets and communities of violence and damages.

Oyebamiji enjoined the residents to cooperate with the government by staying safe to avert physical financial and psychological damages.

According to him, “Kindly be informed that the curfew is not a punitive measure; rather, it is to keep our streets safe, our children safe and to ensure that our business owners do not suffer any more losses.

“This by implication means that the State Government has not approved the movement of people at any time of the day within the period of the curfew.” he said.

However, the EndSars protesters are adamant with their struggle defying the constituted authority, continue with their peaceful protest at the regular ground at popular Olaiya Junction, Osogbo with agitation against police brutality and bad governance.

The protesters in their number organized entrainment show and cooked rice for the people at the protesting ground.

Every street of Osogbo were blocked by the protesters to impose no movement order by Governor Gboyega Oyetola, while few security personnel were sighted sitting down by the roadside.
