Assisting your child to trust God is one of the major duties of parents and this they must achieve before the child grows into maturity because the Bible says: Train up a child…..

5 Incredible Steps to Help Your Child Trust God

A child, when growing up, may tend to put his or her trust in the parents because they are always available to meet the needs of the child . The parents should, however, help their child focus his/her trust in God.

These are ways you can help your child trust in God

Teach your child to always pray: prayer is one of the most effective ways a person can begin to build trust in God and this should not be left until the child is ten years old, a child can start praying to God as early as two years old because prayer is the key.

Use what seems stupid: what I mean by this is telling your child to pray about things that may seem insignificant like; Father, teach me what to wear this morning or Father, I feel like eating a biscuit, please provide. These insignificant things that even you can provide for the child will help your child trust God gradually.

Use Big things : as your child continues to grow and know God better, you can start helping that child to trust God more by asking him/her to ask big things like coming first in exams, career choice, and so many other things.

Teach your child to always read the Bible: the word of God is very viable when it comes to trusting God. Teach your child to always read the bible every day because the word of God can even teach him/her what you cannot teach.

Share wonderful acts of God in the past with your child: testimonies show that God is powerful and that there is nothing He cannot do. Share the past deeds of God with your child from the Bible and from your own personal experiences with God.

If there are times you didn’t trust God and you faced repercussions, please share this also with your child because it will remind the child that if he/she refuses to trust God, there will be consequences.

You can’t teach your child to trust God if you don’t personally know and trust Him; so, it starts from you as a parent first and then flows down to you helping your child to do same.
