20 Sure-Fire Signs That You’re Dating The Man/Woman Of Your Dreams

Are you feeling the pressure from friends and relatives who keep asking when you’re going to tie the knot? After being together a while, all couples get to that stage where they wonder whether to take the next ‘big step’. We’re all on the hunt for the ultimate keeper– but how do you know if your partner is ‘the one’?

Getting married is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make in your life, so it’s important to be sure. If you’re questioning whether you’ve found the person you should marry – here are 20 sure-fire signs that you’re dating the man/woman of your dreams.

1) They surprise you with your favourite things (without you having to prompt them)

We all love surprises – especially when hints haven’t been given! It doesn’t have to be anything excessive, but random acts of kindness without expecting anything in return go a long way. Perhaps you’ve got a favourite perfume or there’s a certain type of wine you love? If you come home and your partner already has this waiting for you, then they get top marks!

2) You’ve accept their bad habits (and they accept yours!)

Nail biter? Knuckle crunchier? Your other half may have some pretty nasty habits, but if you 100% accept them without cringing or going crazy (anymore…) then looks like you’re their perfect match.

4) You don’t mind him/her seeing you at your worst

Jogging bottoms, messy hair, no makeup…and dare I say it, unshaven legs – ladies, if you’re prepared to let your man see you like this, then honestly, it’s a good thing rather than a bad thing. Boys, before you start disagreeing with this – being in your ‘comfort zone’ shows you feel at ease with your partner. It’s just important to make sure you still make the effort and don’t perpetually stay in this zone!

5) You’ve introduced him/her to your parents and they approve

Meeting the parents is a big deal. It’s daunting, (especially if your partner’s other half resembles Jack Byrnes from Meet The Parents) but it’s a huge step forward in any relationship, and shows you’re willing to let your partner in to your world. Bonus points if your Mum is as smitten with your other half as your are. They do say mothers know best!

6) When you’re upset, your partner is the only one you want to speak to

At times of woe, is your partner the only one who can make you feel better? We all need support during the good times and the bad, but someone who knows how to pick you up during the bad times when you’re sobbing uncontrollably is what really counts. The person you share your life with should be the one who helps you fight battles and makes you feel strong again.

7) Your friends approve

Friends opinions matter, and if all of your mates are genuinely happy for you and telling you that you should marry that person at once, then listen to them. Ok, perhaps don’t book a spontaneous trip to Vegas and do it immediately, but friends want the best for you so trust their words.

8) You have a lot in common

High five for mutual interests! If you’re two snowboard loving, adrenaline junkies who have a penchant for action movies – then celebrate your similarities! A lot of couples have absolutely nothing in common so you should realise how lucky you are.

9) You trust each other completely

Trust is at the core of any relationship and without this, there’s no point being together. If you trust each other 100%, and would never have any reason to doubt your partner, then this is one of the best signs there is.

10) You don’t mind spending time apart

So many couples suddenly become joined at the hip – you can’t spend time with one without the other and they show dangerous signs of co-dependence. If you’re the opposite and you’re so confident in the strength of your relationship that you don’t mind spending time apart, then this is the sign you’re in a healthy partnership. You should still be able to have your own hobbies and interests that don’t involve your partner. What’s important is that you don’t mind being apart, but when you are, you miss each other.

11) You’ve survived holidays together without going crazy

They do say that holidays are the ultimate test for any couple – being together 24/7 with the risk of flight delays, flirty foreign waiters and sunstroke is a big enough test for anyone! So if you’ve survived going away together without driving each other nuts, give yourselves a pat on the back!

12) You’re not afraid to speak about the future

If your partner doesn’t flinch when you talk about your future together, and is prepared to discuss everything from finances, to mortgages to the ‘B’ word….(babies), then it’s a great sign of their commitment.

13) You can’t imagine being with anyone else

Does the thought of only being with one person for the rest of your life make you feel happy rather than nervous? Some people in relationships can’t stop imagining being with other people (danger zone), but if you’re the opposite, and you truly can’t imagine yourself being single again- then the commitment has already been made.

14) There’s a spark between you that you haven’t had with anyone else

Sometimes it’s a simple shared glance across the room and you know exactly what the other person is thinking. Maybe you still catch your partner checking you out when you’re getting ready? If there’s a magnetism between you that you haven’t felt with anyone else, then this is the person you should stay with!

15) You can speak to each other about anything

Anything? Yes anything! If no topic is out of bounds and you can be 100% open with your partner, that’s exactly the kind of relationship everyone wants. Maybe there are a few skeletons in your closet or private things you’ve never been able to tell anyone else. The willingness to open up is something that will make your relationship stronger in the long run.

16) You don’t have any body hang-ups or inhibitions

There’s nothing worse than being stuck with body inhibitons – the ideal relationship is one where you’re happy to ‘let it all hang out’, so to speak, and are completely at easy with your partner.

17) You’re best friends

The best lovers are best friends too. You know how to make each other laugh and never get bored in each other’s company.

18) You’ve survived big relationship challenges (e.g. long distance)

We all go through challenges in life- and one of the toughest for couples is the long-distance relationship. If you’ve managed to survive this and surpass the hard times without reaching breaking point, some would say you can survive anything!

19) Your partner makes sacrifice for your relationship

Is your partner willing to say no to ‘boys night’ when you’ve not feeling well? Perhaps one of you needs to move cities because of work. If you’re willing to make big sacrifices for each other, it shows the strength of the relationship you’re in.

20) You share the same core life values

It’s so important to be on the same page and know you’re heading for the same goals. You don’t have be on exactly the same path, but knowing you’re heading for the same destination and want similar things in life is important. From children to where you want to live in the future – if you’re share the same values, then you know there’s going to be longevity in your relationship.

By now, you should know whether the signs are indicating that you may be close to walking down the aisle. If you feel warm and tingly inside when reading this, then you may have found Mr/Miss Right!
