‘Why He Didn’t Release Explicit Video Of ‘Wonma’- Olamide

Indigenous rapper Olamide has revealed the reason he didn’t release the video for his explicit single ‘Wonma‘, off his 2020-released project, ‘999 EP‘.

The ‘Wo’ hitmaker said his manager advised they stay from a video interpretation of the song, which received widespread condemnation from Nigerians. Olamide disclosed this in a fresh interview with Pulse during which he also discussed some aspects of his musical career.

Brother, there is a limit to your crazy creativity in this country [laughs]. You can get away with it anywhere else in the world, but in Nigeria – no. So we decided against releasing it,” he says. “Sometimes ehn, it is what it is, but you then have to decide whether the realistic is worth the risk or not.

“When the director gave me the mood board, I thought about how I was becoming an ‘OG’ to a lot of people but I hate stifling people’s creativity, so I allowed him to shoot the video,” he continues. “When the video came out, I didn’t ‘cacu’ on time [laughs hard] till my manager said, ‘Guy, if you try to drop this video, dem go chop you raw,” he added.
