Authorities responded to a domestic violence call around 7:14 a.m. New Year’s Day, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Inside the residence, officers found a 27-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man who were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the deputies, the female victim suffered multiple bullet wounds, while the male victim only has one apparently self-inflicted bullet wound, hinting at suicide.

The suspect has been identified as J $ tash, whose legal name is Justin Joseph. The female victim has been identified as Jeanette Gallegos. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the 911 call came from one of the girl’s three children, claiming that J $ tash allegedly shot and killed her. This would have led to the suicide of the Florida native rapper.

According to The Sun, the couple would have discussed their relationship in the early hours of January 1 when J $ tash took Gallegos to a master bedroom and closed the door. The Sheriff added that the three children of the deceased (ages 7, 9 and 11, respectively), knocked on the door periodically to make sure their mother was okay.
