Benedict Ayade is a Nigerian politician and the current serving Executive Governor of Cross River State.
He was elected governor in the 2015 general elections under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and sworn in on 29 May 2015. He was re-elected in the 2019 gubernatorial elections after completing his first tenure. Prior to his becoming a governor, Ben also served as a member of the 7th Senate of Nigeria. He was the senator representing the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State, Nigeria.

Benedict Bengioushuye Ayade was born on the 2nd of March, 1968 in Kakum, Obudu LGA of Cross River State. His parents, Mr. & Mrs. Peter Akinsheye Ayade were both devout Catholics and his father worked as a Public Servant with the Water Board.
Ayade had his primary education at St. Stephens Primary School, Obudu. After obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate, he enrolled at the Government Secondary School, Obudu, Nigeria for his secondary education.
He further in 1984, gained admission to study at the prestigious University of Ibadan, Ibadan graduating in 1988 with a B.Sc. (Honours). He also obtained his M.sc in Microbiology and PhD in Environmental Microbiology from the same University of Ibadan.
Ben Ayade also has an MBA from Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Edo State and LLB Law Degree from Delta State University, Abraka.

Ben Ayade has worked as a lecturer at Delta State University, Abraka where he was subsequently appointed Professor.
Professor Ben Ayade’s first step into politics was in 2011 when he ran for a seat in the Nigerian Senate under the PDP political platform. He held the position of Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology during his term at the senate. He was also a member of other Committees such as Education, Petroleum Downstream and Drugs/Narcotics/Crime.
He contested and won the seat as the Executive Governor of Cross River State in the 2015 gubernatorial elections under the PDP platform. he was re-elected in 2019 for his second term.
