Pearl Shongwe was discovered dead in her Waterfall apartment on Tuesday, according to the SABC.
Tuesday, Pearl's family announced her passing.

According to family spokesman Khehla Tshabalala said in a statement that the woman “died away in her sleep.” Shongwe, according to her family, passed away in her Johannesburg home. The family requests privacy to mourn.

“It is with great sadness that the Shongwe family announces the untimely passing of our beloved daughter Ntombifuthi Pearl Shongwe,”

Her body was found by her neighbors in her apartment. “Our daughter was a celebrated radio broadcaster and TV presenter. Her presence will forever live on in our hearts.” Pearl Shongwe cause of death was not been revealed yet.

It was revealed that Pearl's neighbors discovered the dead inside her home and afterward called the police.
Colonel Noxolo Kweja, a spokesman for the police, reported that Midrand police are investigating Shongwe's death.

“Midrand police have begun an investigative docket after a 35-year-old Pearl Shongwe was found deceased today,” stated Colonel Noxolo Queza. Determining Pearl Shongwe cause of death will be made easier by the inquiry. Although the exact reason for her death is not known.
