Struggling Bayern Munich Sack Niko Kovac

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Sunday parted company with manager Niko Kovac after the club’s 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Naijaparry understands that the 5-1 spanking was Bayern’s second defeat in 10 Bundesliga matches this season, leaving them fourth in the table, four points behind leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.

The former Croatia midfielder, 48, had been in charge of Bayern since July 2018, leading them to a league-and-cup double last season.

But Saturday’s defeat was the club’s heaviest in the Bundesliga in 10 years.

“I know how this business works – I am not naive,” Kovac had said on Saturday after the game.

“My feeling is not important, the ones who make the decisions are the ones you have to ask at the end of the day.”

Assistant coach Hansi Flick will take charge of Bayern in the Champions League against Olympiacos on Wednesday and Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
