Tension in Super Eagles camp over alleged rift between Mikel Obi, Onazi

There seems to be tension in the Nigeria’s camp ahead of the 2018 World Cup over a rumoured stand-off between captain John Obi Mikel and his deputy Ogenyi Onazi.

Stories about a rift between the two senior players of the team surfaced this morning.

The bone of contention is yet to be ascertained, but it is believed the issue is being kept under wraps, so as not to create negativity around the team.

However, in an chat with
OwnGoalNigeria , a member of the team who pleaded anonymity, insisted everything was fine.

“First of all there’s no truth in the story. Mikel doesn’t have any issue with Onazi. How is that even possible?

“Mikel is our leader both on and off the pitch. If at all anything happened between them it was the usual match tension. Nothing more. Talking about them not been on speaking terms, Mikel hardly talks.
