Arsene Wenger reacts to Liverpool blowing invincibles chance with Watford defeat

Watford stunned the league leaders 3-0 in February to break the hearts of Liverpool fans who hoped to shatter the invincibles’ record as icing on the cake after winning the league.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who led the gunners to an unprecedented run in the 2003/2004 Premier League on their way to clinching the title has stated that he was satisfied after the Reds crashed at Watford.

And as a result, Arsenals record is still intact as they remain the only club to have played an entire season without a loss.

But that record looked set to be broken by the Reds juggernaut this term – with the Merseysiders not only emulating Arsenal’s record, but accumulating far more points.

He told beIN Sports: “Yes, it was very satisfying when I saw Liverpool lose. You always want to be the only one to do something.

“Liverpool could really have made it. But this just goes to show how difficult it is to repeat this feat.

“At least I received a lot of messages from Arsenal supporters on that day.”

Just recently, Arsene Wenger snubbed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and named Nwankwo Kanu as his best January signing for Arsenal.
