Amotekun Combs Osun Forest, Arrests 10 Chinese, Ghanian, Others Over Illegal Mining (Photo)

Officers of the Osun State Amotekun corps on Monday arrested 11 expatriates including ten Chinese and one Ghanaian as well as three locals for their involvement in illegal mining activities in the state.

Recalls that ngnews247.com report a similar operation that was carried out earlier this month, leading to the arrest of 27 illegal miners then, including 17 chinese, 10 local with a local chief among them.

However, findings made by our correspondent revealed that the Amotekun corps in collaboration with the State Join Task Force (JTF), stormed Itagunmodi, Igun and Ariye 1&2, all in Atakunmosa West local government area of the state to perform the operation.

Our correspondent learnt that the operation was said to have lasted two hours after a tip off from members of the public.

While addressing newsmen, the Director-General of Osun Amotekun, Mr. Amitolu Shittu said it was part of the state Governor’s directives to rid the state of economic saboteurs.

He commended the JTF comprising Nigerian Army, Air force, Navy, Police, DSS, NSCDC and Immigration for their cooperation with Amotekun corps to make the operation a success.
