Tinubu Invited Me To See Him, I’m Still in PDP – Olopoeyan Reacts To Viral Photo

A Chieftain and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Alhaji AbdulRasheed Adebisi Olopoeyan, has disclosed that his meeting with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was not to join the APC but to maintain cordial relationship with all reliable political leaders irrespective of party affiliation.

He also disclosed that he met Tinubu for the love he has for the former governor of Lagos state, who also have large heart in maintaining relationship with other political leaders across all the political parties.

Olopoeyan, a strong ally of Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, who was believed to have work for the emergence of present PDP led government in Oyo state is not having it good with the governor on the ground that he felt neglected immediately governor Makinde gets into the office.

It could be recalled that Olopoeyan had accused governor Makinde of neglect, despite his major contribution before and during the 2019 elections that produced the present administration under the leadership of governor Makinde.

Speaking on phone with Daily Independent on Tuesday on his meeting with Asiwaju Tinubu, Olopoeyan disclosed that with his level in Nigeria politics, he is fit to meet any political leader irrespective of the party affiliation.

“It is true that I met Asiwaju. I am happy I know him. I am happy I met someone I love. I love him personally without anything attached. But I am in PDP. I have not joined APC.

”It was Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who invited me to come and see him. He said he has heard a lot about me and would love us to work together. He said he would like me to join Oyo APC. Respectfully, I told him that I am in PDP and that I cannot join the APC. I, however, told him that I love him. He said he loves people like me too.

”I remember that late former governor Abiola Ajimobi extended similar gesture to me in 2012. Thank God Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, who was late Ajimobi’s political adviser as at that time is still alive. He was at the meeting.

“Former governor Abiola Ajimobi asked me to come over to the APC and that he would give me more than what his predecessor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala was doing for me. I rejected it respectfully. And we related till he died last year. That is me.
