The actress was found “unresponsive” by her family in her apartment in the United States on Friday, March 1, 2023. The news came to light as Sophia’s stepfather Mike Romero on Saturday sought funds for her memorial on GoFundMe.
He wrote, “On behalf of her mother and family, it is with a heavy heart that I have to share the news of our beloved Sophia’s passing. The sudden loss of Sophia has left her family and friends devastated and in shock”
“Sophia was found unresponsive in her apartment on March 1st, 2024, by her family. An investigation by local police into the cause of death is still ongoing,” he added and referred to her as “a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend”
The cause of Ms Sophia’s death is still unclear and local police are still investigating the case to find it out. Her modeling agency also stated that she didn’t die of suicide and that her death was being investigated as a “home invasion homicide”.
She was associated with the modeling agency 101 Modelling, who have also confirmed the news of her untimely demise. The agency shared a post on X; “Our hearts are broken by the untimely and tragic passing of our beloved Sophia Leone. A beautiful spirit who touched many of us. RIP sweet angel and know how much we loved you. A GoFundMe has been started for her family”
