Senator Dino Melaye jumps out of police vehicle, flees into bush enroute Kogi
In what was like a typical Sylvester Stallone film, on Tuesday afternoon in Abuja, embattled senator, Dino Melaye, while being conveyed to his native state to face charged by police authorities, did the unthinkable, as he jumped out of the moving vehicle and made for the thick bush nearby.
It was gathered that on seeing what happened, security operatives attached to observe him in the journey, also spontaneously jumped out of the vehicle and gave the fleeing senator a hot chas.
The Operatives of the Nigeria Police drawn from its Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) were moving Senator Dino Melaye to Lokoja.
He was expected to be paraded later this evening among other hardened criminals who implicated him in the crime that necessitated his arrest.
The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District was taken into SARS detention facility, located opposite the old Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN junction along the Area 1 expressway, Abuja, and was later moved out around 12 noon today in police vehicle heavily manned by SARS operatives.
Vanguard source in the police said the parade of Melaye and other criminal suspects among them the re-arrested suspects who had escaped from prison cell, is to be conducted by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Aremu Adediran, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP on behalf of his immediate boss, Jimoh Moshood, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, who is currently in China on a course.
