Sánchez was transferred to Forest Green Rovers on loan in June 2018 for the 2018–19 campaign. He made his debut in the season's first game, which Rovers won 4-1 away at Grimsby.
In January 2019, Sánchez's parent club Brighton brought him back to the team to fill in for Albion's Mathew Ryan, who had been selected to represent Australia at the Asian Cup. During that campaign, he appeared 17 times for Forest Green, all of which were league games.

As longtime backup goalkeeper Jason Steele took up Sánchez's starting position in the second half of the 2022–23 campaign, Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi expressed his sadness for Sánchez and noted that he and the player have “one of the best relationships.”

Sánchez participated in a 2-1 away victory over Chelsea on April 15 due to Steele's injury. Eight days later, he kept his spot against Manchester United in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley for 120 minutes of action, although he was unable to save a penalty in the ultimate shootout loss. Sánchez joined Chelsea on August 5, 2023, and penned a seven-year contract.
