Police arrest suspected armed robber faking madness in Lagos

The state police command has arrested a 25-year-old robbery suspect identified as Olayinka Ogundamiro.

Ogundamiro who allegedly disguised as a mentally derailed person, was paraded on Tuesday at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

In an interview with pressmen, the suspect, an Ekiti state indigene gave his personal details and insisted that he was not insane, adding that the claim that he disguised as a mad man “was a big exaggeration”.

The Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi while parading the suspect said operatives swooped on Ogundamiro after closely observing him, adding that his display of lunacy was concocted.

“A suspected robber who disguised around town as a mad man was caught on Monday around 3pm.

“When he was arrested and searched, the following items were recovered from him: a toy pistol, a PoS terminal, three tokens belonging to First Bank and Zenith Bank, two ID cards, a bunch of keys, a live tortoise, a Tecno phone, bangles, chains, a laptop charger and wristwatches.

In “He could not give a satisfactory account of himself and why he had all the items in his possession.

Investigation is ongoing and he will be charged to court.”
