PHOTOS: Inside Big Brother Australia House 2022

Big Brother fans have rejoiced as the show prepares to kick off on Monday, May 9, with a special twist.

In 2022, Big Brother Australia turns 21, and this season sees 13 new housemates enter the famed residence alongside eight members of returning Big Brother royalty.

The housemates will be cut off from the outside world, with cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

So what exactly does this year’s famous abode look like?

Where is Big Brother Australia house located?

The Big Brother house is known to have moved around over the years, from the Gold Coast to its location near Manly, NSW, last year.

For 2022, the house sits in the White Pavillion at Sydney Olympic Park.

7Entertainment was granted an exclusive tour of the new digs, and access to surprise never-before-seen rooms.

Kitchen

As you arrive at the Big Brother house, the first thing you see is the open kitchen that features all the appliances any housemate could need, and to housemate Reggie Bird’s delight, a dishwasher!

The kitchen looks onto an open floor plan dining area to the left, that includes a huge table, to seat all housemates in one go.

To the right is a living area that features a gigantic projector screen used for conversations with host Sonia Kruger.

The Garden

The open plan living space looks out onto the garden, where housemates may be seen soaking up some rays or going for a dip.

This year, guests have access to both a pool and spa, elevated on two separate decks.

For those who need an escape, this year’s house has a treehouse, a zen space perfect for (somewhat) private conversations, dates, or somewhere where housemates can simply gather thoughts.

The mezzanine

A new room for 2022, the mezzanine is an upstairs luxury suite situated just above the kitchen area.

Only a select few have exclusive access to the area at a time.

Bedrooms

In this house, there are two large bedrooms featuring a line-up of single beds, decked out in teal and orange bedding.

Situated just behind the bedrooms are laundry rooms where you may find the housemates attending to their own washing.

Bathrooms

Just down the hall from the bedrooms, a grand bathroom is present with LED mirrors lining the walls.

Housemates have plenty of room to get ready for the day with individual mirrors and sinks.

The yard

Separate from the house is the yard, where housemates battle it out in the arena.

Mainly used for nomination challenges the housemates will be tested in ways they never thought were possible.

Secret rooms

This year, the house hides two secret rooms unknown to most housemates.

The first is the ‘mainframe’, the nerve center of the Big Brother house.

Any housemate found in this room can monitor every other housemate. Long story short, they can control the house and other housemates.

The second (not so glamorous) room is the underground sewer. Here you’ll find old pipes and valves that control the plumbing and fresh air in the house.

We’re smelling trouble already.

Diary room

And of course, the best is saved for last – the infamous diary room.

The 2022 diary room is a futuristic design with an undeniably large chair, able to fit multiple housemates at once.
