Paul Jerrard Career
Jerrard attended Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Saskatchewan, a renowned hockey school in Canada, and was selected by the New York Rangers in the ninth round of the 1983 NHL Draft.
He left Canada to play college hockey at Lake Superior State University after being selected by the New York Rangers. He played all four seasons with the Lakers.
Following his graduation from LSSU, he signed with the IHL’s Colorado Rangers. In 1988, he was traded to the Minnesota North Stars, where he participated in five NHL games during the 1988–89 season.
He spent the remainder of his career in the minors after this brief stay in the NHL, finishing it with the Hershey Bears in 1997.
In 1998, Jerrard started working as a coach with the American Hockey League’s Lowell Lock Monsters. He joined the coaching staff of his alma mater, the hockey team at Lake Superior State University, after serving as a coach for one season.
Prior to becoming an assistant coach for the Colorado Avalanche, he played for the Lakers for four seasons. The following year, he left for the Hershey Bears, where he spent two seasons before going back to the former Minnesota North Stars organization.
Before leaving in 2008, Jerrard remained with the Iowa Stars as an assistant coach. In 2009, he returned to the Dallas Stars organization to coach the newly formed Texas Stars under Glen Gulutzan.
Jerrard accompanied Gulutzan when he was given the opportunity to lead the Dallas Stars as their head coach. Gulutzan and Jerrard were fired on May 14, 2013.
Jerrard was hired by the Vancouver Canucks on August 12, 2013, to serve as an assistant coach for their AHL club, the Utica Comets. Jerrard joined the Calgary Flames on July 6, 2016, as an assistant coach, where he worked to strengthen Calgary’s defense and penalty kill.
On April 17, 2018, he was let go along with head coach Glen Gulutzan and assistant Dave Cameron. On May 25, 2018, Jerrard accepted a position as an assistant coach with the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHCOmaha )’s Mavericks.
