Panic as Kano reports first case of COVID-19

There was panic in the ancient city on Saturday following the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the state.

Commissioner for Health, Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, confired the case.

The Commissioner failed to give further details but sources said the victim, a resident of Lagos, was said to have arrived Kano through Abuja a couple of days ago.

A top government source told The Nation when he took I’ll, he was admitted in a private hospital before he was transferred, on referral, to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

The source further confided that his blood sample was taken on Thursday and the results confirmed he was asymptomatic.

The development is causing panic among residents.

The source revealed that contact tracing has commenced, adding that a crucial meeting between the State Task Force on COVID -19 with Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is on to address the emergency.
