Oyibo, a lawyer was said to have been attacked while returning from a campaign trip in the Agbani area. He was said to have been burnt inside his vehicle, and three persons were suspected to be with him in the vehicle but it was not yet known how many of the occupants were killed.

Chief Oyibo Chukwu was a prominent lawyer, businessman, and politician from Nigeria. He has worked in various capacities as a legal practitioner and political figure, including serving as the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Oji River Branch, and as a Gubernatorial Aspirant for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Enugu State.

Oyibo Chukwu was born in the southeastern part of Nigeria. He attended St. Patrick School in Abakiliki and later Government College in Afikpo for his primary and secondary education.

After graduating from the Nigeria Law School, Oyibo Chukwu began his legal career by working as the Legal Adviser and Administrative Officer for Anilogun Nigeria Limited from 1984 to 1985.
He then became the Head of Chambers for Chimezie Ikeazor (SAN) and Associates from 1985 to 1988. In 1989, he became a Senior Partner at Chukwu, Chukwu and Associates, where he still works today.
He also served as the Local Government Administrator/Supervisor for Health in Nkanu LGA from 1994 to 1996.
In addition to his legal work, Oyibo Chukwu is also a successful businessman. He is the CEO of KANVOC Nigeria Limited, a company he founded in 1990 that specializes in civil engineering and construction services.
Oyibo Chukwu’s political career began in 1990 when he was appointed as the State Auditor for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Enugu State.
In 1992, he ran as a Gubernatorial Aspirant for the SDP in the state. The following year, he served as the Acting State Chairman of the SDP in Enugu State.
In 1993, Oyibo Chukwu ran as a Presidential Candidate for the SDP in Nigeria’s general election. Later, in 1998, he ran as a Gubernatorial Candidate for the Congress for National Concensus (CNC).
In 1999, he was appointed as the Acting National Auditor for the All-Peoples Party (APP), a position he held until 2000.
In 2009, Oyibo Chukwu was appointed as the Assistant National Legal Adviser for Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, a cultural and socio-political organization that represents the Igbo people of Nigeria.
He also served as the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Oji River Branch, a position he has held since 2011.

Oyibo Chukwu Cause of Death
Unknown gunmen have killed Oyibo Chukwu, the senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for Enugu East Senatorial District, along with five of his supporters.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening at Agbani area of Nkanu West Local Government area of Enugu State. The gunmen shot Mr. Chukwu and his supporters inside their car and set the car ablaze.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Chijioke Edeoga, confirmed the incident and blamed political parties who felt threatened by the rise of the Labour Party in the state. 
The Enugu State Police Command has not yet commented on the incident. The Labour Party had been attacked on several occasions during the election campaigns, and several members and supporters had been injured while property worth millions had been destroyed.
