Osun Assembly confirms Amotekun nominees, embarks on two-week recess

Osun State House of Assembly, today, confirmed Brigadier General Isa Ademola Aderibigbe (rtd) and Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi (rtd) as the Chairman, Governing Board and Corps Commander respectively of the State Security Network Agency codenamed “Amotekun”.

The confirmation was done at today’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, after thorough scrutiny and screening which held last week Thursday.

The motion for the confirmation was moved by the majority leader of the house, Honourable Maruf Olanrewaju, who appreciated the Governor of the state for choosing the best for the security outfit, he alluded to the performance of the nominees as impressive and therefore sought their confirmation for the position.

The minority leader, Hon. Kofoworola Adewumi, who spoke in favour of the motion said “the nominee has satisfied the law and they have what it takes to be in the position.”

After the confirmation, the Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, announced a two-weeks recess and the house is expected to be reconvened by August 17, 2020.
