Nigeria’s Super Eagles Legend, Nwankwo Kanu Reported Appointed New Enyimba Chairman

Nigeria’s Super Eagles legend, Nwankwo Kanu has reportedly been appointed as the Chairman/Sole Administrator of Enyimba Football Club of Aba.

It was gathered that Kanu, 46, was appointed as the Peoples’ Elephant’s new boss by the Abia State Government led by Governor Alex Otti, which dissolved the club’s former board last week.

The announcement of Kanu Nwankwo’s appointment came in the early hours of Sunday, June 2nd, 2023, marking the end of Felix Anyasi’s remarkable 24-year tenure in the position.

Felix, who leaves behind a legacy as a revered figure in Enyimba since his appointment as Chairman in 1999, has received well-deserved recognition for his outstanding contributions to the club’s successes.

He bagged the African Football Manager of the Year twice (in 2003, 2004) with the People’s Elephant, and he was also awarded the Manager of the Year at the Nigeria Pitch Awards in 2013 and 2015.

Kanu Nwankwo will have huge boots to fill as Chairman, as he links up with his former teammate, Finidi George, who is the head coach of the club in the build-up to defending their NPL title come next season.
