Insecurity: Residents lambast Osun monarch over support for Service Chiefs

The Olowu of Kuta in Ayedire local government area of Osun state, Oba Adekunle Makama has been criticised by social media users for kicking against the removal of the Service Chiefs.

Oba Makama who reacted to yesterday’s resolution of the Nigerian Senate calling for the removal of the Security Chiefs, said it is not the solution to the security challenges facing the nation.

The Senate had after a motion by Senator Ali Ndume asked the military chiefs to step aside to enable a new set of ideas tackle insecurity across the country.

However Oba Makama’s seeming defense of the Service Chiefs irked social media users who berated him for his stance.

Most of the users who used uncouth words on the king advised him to keep quiet when his community or kinsmen are being ravaged by killers.

One of the users asked if the Monarch has been given new appointment as the spokesman of the service chiefs, he said “He is now the spokesperson of the Nigeria military?”

Some social media users also think the Monarch is trying to make use of the opportunity to make himself trend in Nigeria media, a user said “who is that Olowu, he want to be trending right?

Tuesday’s call for the exit of service chiefs was not the first from the 9th assembly.

The House of Representatives had in January called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the service chiefs and appoint new ones.

On a weekly basis, officers and soldiers fighting Boko Haram/ISWAP are killed in action, with some deserting or resigning from the Armed Forces.
