What Neighbouring Countries Must Do For Nigeria To Reopen Border – Emefiele

Countries bordering Nigeria must engage with the country before it could reopen its border, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),
Godwin Emefiele , insisted on Monday.

The border has been closed for some weeks now due to the substandard products that are smuggled and dumped into the Nigerian markets.

Emefiele spoke with State House correspondents after closed doors meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Some Nigerians have questioned the government’s decision to closed the border, saying that it will have negative impact on the country’s economy.

But the CBN governor also claimed that the Nigerian economy is doing well with the closure of its borders.

According to him, the border closure is helping to create more jobs for Nigerians, while local producers of rice, and poultry, among others, are now able to sell their goods.
