Ministerial List: Check Out Nominees To Face Senators Thursday

The Nigerian Senate will Thursday screen former governor of Bayelsa state Timipre Sylva, Adeniyi Adebayo from Ekiti state and Bashir Magashi from Kano for ministerial positions, Naijaparry has learned.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan, who made this known on Wednesday, also said that Richard Adeniyi Adebayo (Ekiti), Mustapha Baba Shehuri (Borno), Ramatu Tijjani (Kogi), Mohammed Abdullahi (Nasarawa), Tayo Alasoadura (Ondo) and Sunday Dare (Oyo) will face senators on Thursday.

The federal lawmakers screened a total of 10 ministerial nominees on Wednesday, with six of them getting special treatment as they were asked to take a bow and go.

The nominees screened on Wednesday were Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Uchechukwu Ogah (Abia), Sen George Akume (Benue), Ogbonnaya Onu (Ebonyi), Emeka Nwajiuba (Imo), Sen Adeleke Mamora (Lagos), Olamilekan Adegbite (Ogun), Adamu Adamu (Bauchi) and Sharon Ikeazor (Anambra).

President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday forwarded 43 names to the Senate for confirmation.

Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, was said to have personally submitted the ministerial list to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, in the early hours of Tuesday.

After reading the names of the nominees, Lawan announced that screening and confirmation of the nominees would begin on Wednesday.

According to the Senate President, other legislative activities in the chamber would take back seat to ensure the speedy completion of the screening.
