Michael J. Fox Career

Fox’s career began in the late 1970s when he landed his first acting role in the Canadian TV series “Leo and Me”. Later, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career and landed the role that would make him a household name, that of Alex P. Keaton on the NBC sitcom Family Ties. The show ran from 1982 to 1989 and earned Fox numerous nominations and awards, including three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

During his time on Family Ties, Fox also appeared in several films, including “Back to the Future,” which became one of the most successful franchises in film history. In the film, he played the lead character Marty McFly, a teenager who travels back in time with the help of a DeLorean time machine. The movie was a major critical and commercial success, earning over $381 million at the box office and spawning two sequels.

Fox continued to act throughout the 1990s, starring in movies such as “Doc Hollywood” and “The Secret of My Success,” as well as the TV series “Spin City.” In 1998, Fox announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a debilitating neurological disorder. Despite this diagnosis, he continued to act, becoming an advocate for Parkinson’s research and creating The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
