OPay, a leading financial technology company, has announced that as from March 1, any account not linked with the owner’s national identity number (NIN) and the bank’s biometric verification number (BVN) would be wielded out.

To avoid your account being logged out, we have created this comprehensive guide on how to link your NIN to your Opay account.

Importance of Linking NIN to Opay

Opay, like many financial institutions, requires your NIN to comply with directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC). This not only verifies your identity but also ensures compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations, preventing fraud and money laundering.

Moreover, linking your NIN can unlock additional benefits and services exclusively available to customers who have registered their NIN. These benefits may include access to loans, grants, and financial assistance from governmental and non-governmental organizations.

How to Link NIN to Opay

Open the Opay app on your device.
Log in using your phone number and six-digit password.
Navigate to the “Profile” or “Me” icon at the bottom right corner.
Select “Account Limits.” This will show your account information and the “Tier” you belong.
Tap on “Upgrade Account” at the bottom.
Select Tier 2 or Tier 3 depending on the option available.
You’ll be asked to link your NIN.
Enter your NIN. You may also be asked to take a picture and upload the NIN slip.
Follow the prompts.
You have successfully linked your NIN to your Opay account.
