“We announce the passing of Class of 1967 member, Larry Gator Rivers! To say the Bulldogs have suffered tremendous losses this week is an understatement! He put Beach High on the map! This Harlem Globetrotter came back home to serve his community as a commissioner and sponsoring many basketball clinics for young adults wanting to perfect their game. He loved Alfred Ely Beach! Rest in Heaven and thank you for a job well done.

Rivers was the District 2 commissioner for Chatham County. He gained notoriety for his time spent playing for the Harlem Globetrotters.
