Kubwa Market Fire Outbreak, Many Fear Dead

There was a fire outbreak at the Kubwa market in Abuja on Friday evening.

The cause of the inferno isn’t yet clear, but a trader said the fire broke out within the market.

A trader at the market told TheCable that “at least 20 persons” are feared to have died in the incident.

Some persons said it appeared to be an explosion, but it wasn’t clear what caused it.

Several persons are also said to have sustained injuries and have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Fire fighters later arrived the scene of the incident and attempted to put out the fire.

Meanwhile, security operatives have cordoned off entrances to the market.

As of 10:30pm, traders were still gathered around the entrances to the market, lamenting their losses.
