Jungkook auditioned for the South Korean talent show Superstar K during its auditions in Daegu in 2011. Despite not being chosen, he received casting offers from seven different entertainment companies.
After seeing RM, now his fellow band member and leader in BTS, perform, he decided to become a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment.
In preparation for his debut, he traveled to Los Angeles during the summer of 2012 to receive dance training from Movement Lifestyle. Before his debut, he appeared in Jo Kwon’s “I’m Da One” music video in June 2012 and worked as a backup dancer for Glam.

With the release of the single 2 Cool 4 Skool on June 12, 2013, Jungkook made his BTS debut. He has performed three solo songs for BTS. In the first, a pop song titled “Begin” from the 2016 album Wings, he describes how he moved to Seoul at a young age in order to become an idol and thanks his bandmates for looking after him at the time.
The second, a future bass song called “Euphoria,” was made available on April 5, 2018, along with a nine-minute short film that served as the prelude to the third installment of BTS’ “Love Yourself” series. The full studio version of it was released on August 24 as part of BTS’ compilation album Love Yourself: Answer. Along with his bandmates once more, he was named Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture by Moon in July 2021 in order to “expand South Korea’s diplomatic efforts and global standing” in the international arena and “lead the global agenda for future generations, such as sustainable growth.”
In honor of the Korean War, Jungkook collaborated on a song with other Korean artists in September 2015 as part of the “One Dream, One Korea” campaign. The song was made available on September 24 and debuted on October 15 at the One K Concert in Seoul.
Jungkook was chosen to appear in Flower Crew’s premiere episode in 2016. Additionally, he made an appearance on Celebrity Bromance and participated in episode 72 of King of Mask Singer as “Fencing Man”.
A brand-new webtoon based on BTS called 7Fates: Chakho had Jungkook sing the soundtrack in February 2022. The song, “Stay Alive,” was written by bandmate Jungkook and produced by Suga. It debuted at number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100, became the first Korean soundtrack in history to reach the top ten on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S chart, peaked at number eight, and debuted at number 89 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart.
Again working with Puth, Jungkook appears on the June 24th single “Left and Right” as a featured artist.
