Joseph William Namath was born on May 31, 1943, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania in the United States.

He play for thirteen seasons in the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL), spending twelve years with New York Jets and one season with Los Angeles RAMS.

Namath attended Beaver Fall High School, where he excelled in sports and was considered a standout performer at quarterback in football, guard in basketball and outfielder in baseball. Once on The James Brown Show, Namath revealed that he was the only white player on his high school basketball team. He also made dunks in an era when it was rarely seen in high school basketball.
