Legendary Oswego Speedway racer Jeremy Pitcher Fulton, New York, passed away from cancer. The local racing community has lost another good soul. “Our sincere condolences to the family of Jeremy Pitcher on their loss”.

Fulton Speedway’s official Facebook page post revealed the demise news of Jeremy Pitcher. Jeremy Pitcher a resident of Fulton, New York, and a well-known Oswego Speedway racer, passed away after battling cancer.

On March 29, 2013, the Oswego Speedway declared him dead and the statement reads the following tribute,

SBS victory lane with Jeremy Pitcher on July 6, 2013. As many have read by now, we are deeply saddened to pass along the news that after an incredibly hard-fought battle with cancer, Jeremy passed away yesterday, March 28, 2023.

While he was perhaps best known for winning multiple track titles and dozens of features in the DIRT Sportsman ranks – one of which ironically came on the Oswego asphalt during the 2012 Sportsman Classic, Pitcher also spent two full seasons in Oswego’s Pathfinder Bank SBS division.

In his rookie year at the Steel Palace back in 2013, Pitcher proved a quick study as he steered the Solazzo Racing No. 14 to victory in the July 6 Independence Weekend Grand Prix.

After a season away from Oswego, Jeremy returned once more in 2015 – now piloting the Jason Simmons-owned Team Tapout No. 97, and put together another solid year, capped with a runner-up finish in the 2015 Bud Light SBS Classic. We will be sharing several more memories, and continuing to look back on Jeremy’s career over the next few days.

As we all mourn the loss of a fantastic person and racer, the staff and management of the Oswego Speedway extend our heartfelt sympathies to the entire Pitcher Family.

About this time tomorrow, my wife and I will be at Roswell for one of the most important days in my life, as I have HIPEC surgery. It will be an 8-10 hour procedure, involving the removal of cancer and a chemo wash. I can’t thank everyone enough for the outpouring of love and prayers showered upon us throughout this difficult past year.

It has meant so much to us. I also can’t thank my family enough for their unwavering support and unconditional love. They have all been through so much with me. Shannon and Barry won’t accept anything but positivity and perseverance. As I said, my entire family has been amazing.

To my wife Heather, we’ve been through so much but you’ve never given up hope and have always believed in me. There are no words that could ever convey how much I love you.

Our love has grown even stronger if that was possible. I thank you for everything, my love. Your love has pushed me through this battle. I want to be around for our wonderful life together, now and always. Thank you, everyone and I hope to see everyone soon with this disease beaten!

Who was Jeremy Pitcher?

Jeremy Pitcher lived in Fulton, New York, and was a native there. Shannon Pitcher of Fulton, New York, adored his brother. On September 4, 2010, Jeremy wed Heather Pitcher, the love of his life.

Jeremy continued his education at S.U.N.Y. Morrisville where he earned an Associate’s degree in Journalism and a Batchelor’s degree in American History from S.U.N.Y. Oswego.

Jeremy had been employed with the Oswego County Highway Department and most recently as a Facilities Technician at Oswego County Opportunities in Fulton. Jeremy had a passion for racing and drove car #14 on dirt and asphalt from 1996 to 2015.

Jeremy was the best ALL-TIME quarterback during those epic football games and the best goaltender those tennis courts had ever seen, according to his buddies, when he played garage basketball during his boyhood.

He was a devoted spouse and parent. In addition to his several track victories and numerous feature victories in the DIRT Sportsman ranks, Pitcher competed in Oswego’s Pathfinder Bank SBS division for two complete seasons. Oddly enough, one of his feature victories happened on the track there during the 2012 Sportsman Classic.

Jeremy had a great sense of humor, was very accessible, and always wore his heart on his sleeve. He became a champion Sportsman driver as a result of his intense competition, which helped him win multiple features.

Hello everyone. Been a while since I’ve posted. This has been the toughest time of my life. Thank God I have the best nurse, my wife Heather Pitcher. It’s incredible how much she has been tasked with and she does it relentlessly and without complaints. We both want to thank you all who have said prayers, sent messages of encouragement, or donated generous gifts. This is a struggle that we continue to battle and have a hard road to full recovery. Can’t thank you all enough again! The love shown to us has been incredible!

Jeremy Pitcher Obituary

Jeremy Pitcher, 52, of Fulton, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born April 4, 1970, in Oswego to Gerald and Brenda Pitcher and was a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton, New York in 1988.

He was an avid golfer and traveled to golf courses out of the area and made many new friends. He enjoyed coaching and refereeing youth sports and men’s basketball leagues.

Jeremy is survived by his wife of 12 years, Heather; his daughter, Gilly Aubeuf of Fulton; his son, Logan Aubeuf of Fulton; his brothers, Shannon (Deneen) Pitcher of Fulton and Shane Pitcher of Hannibal; his step-father, Barry Bailey of Fulton; his two nieces, Falyn and Rhyan Picher and by his sister-in-law, Jennifer Pitcher.

Jeremy was predeceased by his father, Gerald Pitcher, and by his mother, Brenda Cummins Bailey. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton.
