Ighalo Reacts After Man Utd Confirm Loan Extension Until January 2021

Odion Ighalo appeared delighted after extending his stay at Manchester United.

On Monday, it was confirmed that the Nigerian striker would be remaining at Old Trafford until the end of January 2021 after a loan extension was agreed following weeks of discussions between United and his parent club, Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua.

Ighalo’s previous loan deal expired on May 31, though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to retain the forward until at least the end of the delayed 2019-20 Premier League season, which is due to resume following its coronavirus-enforced shutdown later this month.

While confirmation of Ighalo’s extension was not accompanied by any quotes from the former Watford frontman, his joy at the development was made evident on social media.

The player took to Instagram to post a picture of himself donning the famous red shirt alongside a simple smiley face emoji.

Ighalo also reposted lots of well-wishing messages via his Instagram story as fans flocked to offer their congratulations.

Now the focus for Ighalo – whose four strikes for United came in three starts against Club Brugge, Derby County and LASK Linz – will be on ensuring he is raring to go for the resumption of the Premier League, with matches set to commence from June 17.
