Tim was honored in 2020 for his 30 years of federal service. Tim was a great forecaster and leader in office programs. He served in the forecasting program, in which the operating systems ensure we get hazardous weather information to all who make decisions to meet our life and property protection mission.

US National Weather Service Brownsville/ Rio Grande Valley Texas shared a death statement of Tim Speece and the Statement reads,
“Tim Speece, our beloved colleague, and friend passed away due to heart complications during the late evening hours on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Tim began his National Weather Service (NWS) career at the NWS office in Waterloo, Iowa on November 19, 1990. On February 9, 1995, Tim was selected to be a journeyman forecaster at the NWS office here in Brownsville. On May 10, 1998, Tim was promoted from journeyman forecaster to lead forecaster. Tim was one of the original lead forecasters at our office.”, it reads.
“Tim had a wonderful personality, kindness for others, a great intellect, and an easy-going nature. He got along with everyone he came in contact with. Tim had a way to make everyone feel at ease. His thought-provoking stories and humor were second to none. These are just some of the characteristics that made Tim a great person. He was well respected and loved by many. He will be sorely missed by many people both inside and outside the NWS. We continue to grieve for the loss of our NWS family member. We will also continue to keep Yolanda, his wife, and Tim’s family in our thoughts as they grieve the loss of a wonderful human being.”

Tim Speece got his degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Atmospheric Sciences from 1986 to 1990.
Tim started his NWS career in 1990 as a meteorologist intern at WSO in Waterloo, Iowa. He served as the NWS officer from November 1990 to April 1995. Tim was chosen in 1995 for a forecaster post at the local NWS office in Brownsville. Tim received a promotion to lead forecaster at our office in 1998. Ngnews247.com
