Gov. Oyetola Reacts As 27 Northern Youths Arrive In Osun

The Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has reacted following the arrival of about 27 Northern youths into the Oke Ola Community in the Ota Efun area of Osogbo

Sources in the area said the youths arrived in the area around 4am on Tuesday.

A resident, identified simply as Olagbafe, in a chat with The PUNCH, said the youth, said to be engaged by an unnamed company executing a project in the area, rented part of a storey building in the community where they lived.

Olagbafe further explained that sometime in March, all of them left for an undisclosed destination.

He said their sudden reappearance when there was a ban on interstate travel to prevent the spread of COVID-19, led to panic and made some residents inform the police.

“Although policemen quickly responded, they came and evacuated the youth; but less than an hour after, all of them returned to our community and we are all scared,” Olagbafe said.

While reacting, the Governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, said there was no cause for alarm.

He said the youth were Federal Government workers and were screened before they entered the state.

“The government is aware of their presence in the state. There is no cause for alarm,” Omipidan said.
