The group released their debut album titled “I Get Hot,” in 1985 and later went on to produce several chart-topping hits such as “Addicted to You,” “Pull Over” and “Casanova.” LeVert became one of the most successful R&B groups at the time.

Gerald Levert broke from the group to pursue a solo career. He released his first album titled “Private Line,” which gained commercial success while reaching number one on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

After the success of the first solo album, he went on to release several other successful albums, including “Groove On,” and “Love and Consequences.” Aside his singing prowess, Gerald Levert wrote songs for artists such as Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston and Barry White.

Gerald Levert was married to his longtime girlfriend, Mya Marie Harrison in 2001, with whom he had a daughter, Carlysia Levert. Gerald also had two sons, Sean and Eddie from his previous relationships.

On November 10, 2006, Gerald Levert passed away at age 40. The cause of his death was revealed as initially stated as heart attack but after investigations, it was revealed that he died from acute intoxication of a combination of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
