FPE SU Financial Secretary, Olumide Barakat (Queen D) suspended indefinitely by SUJC
The Students Union Judiciary Council led by the Hon. Justice Ajayi Olajide had on November 30, 2020 issue out a memo stating the indefinite suspension of the students union financial secretary Olumide Barakat O. popularly known as Queen D’ for contempt of court.
The Judicial Council of the students union found out that the financial secretary violated Article 3 section 6 [16] of the constitution, as she failed to comply with the judicial Council that ordered her to issue the statement of the union account.
Time frame given to her by the arm to provide the statements of the union account has ended but the financial secretary still choose not to do so.
“She deserves no mercy as she failed to respect the law” the Judicial Council said.
“Sequel to the letter dated 25th of November and 30th November, 2020 ordering the financial secretary to present the two statements of accounts of the student union, in which the financial secretary refuse to honor the above named. This honourable court finds the financial secretary in person of Lady Com. Olumide Barakat O. guilty of two accounts
1. Contempt of the court
2. Article 6, section 3 [6]: Any member of the students union either executive, legislative or judiciary who fails to respond to summon/order served on him/her by the SUJC shall be given any punishment deemed fit by the council”. The statement read.
The Judicial arm further stated that the punishment on contempt of court was invoked to uphold the dignity of the arm and to serve as an example to would-be offenders.
