FPE SU: House Rained Fire As SU Presents Massive Budget

NAIJAPARY gathered that the FPE SU yesterday proposed a massive budget for a short term of tenure to the SURC.

The FPE SU led by Comr. Danlab yesterday presented her proposed budget estimate of 8,557,405 with a deficit of 5,478,675,68,the Student’s Union debated and made the budget proposal known during the FPE Student union Representative Council seating yesterday at the famous Olagunsoye Oyinlola hall.

NAIJAPARY reporter who captured the event yesterday gathered that the supposed and highly placed trust in the present Students’ Union administration has begun to waiver following the Students’ Union budget proposal that have generated several controversies as It was reported that the proposed budget has elicited mixed reactions from the students with some seeing the expenses as too much.

Presenting the budget to the SURC , the FPE SU President Comr. Danlab disclosed that the balance brought down at as 12/1/2018 is 55,329,35 while the internal income / Subscription generated from Nigerian Students is invariably Three million four hundred and seventy Nine thousand naira, similarly asserted that the total income generated is 3628,382:10, amount withdrawn by transition committee is One hundred and fifteen thousand naira (115,000) while amount withdrawn by office of president is one hundred thousand naira (100,000) and imprest withdrawn was 300,000 he added that there was a wrong amount of twenty thousand, five hundred naira (20,500.00) posted into the body account which was later revised while charges on SMS alert equably fourteen thousand one hundred and two naira.

Similarly, the FPE SU President disclosed to the SURC that the total balance after removing expenditure is Three million seventy eight thousand seven hundred and twenty nine naira, thirty two kobo.

Subsequently, the bill for SUL capital project was estimated at Eight hundred and fifty thousand naira (850,000) with the president providing explanation on the capital project, Comr. Danlab highlighted the capital projects as: modern bus stop at south campus estimated at 342,200,completion of union shop estimated at 352,000 and presentation events estimated at 155,800 with a grand total of Eight hundred and fifty thousand naira (850,000).

Our correspondent, also gathered that the president however listed key capital spending allocations for all offices in the union :

PROPOSED EXPENDITURE FOR WELFARE DIRECTOR’S OFFICE = 1,863,900

PROPOSED EXPENDITURE FOR SPORT DIRECTOR’S OFFICE = 681,700

PROPOSED EXPENDITURE FOR SOCIAL DIRECTOR’S OFFICE= One Million eight hundred and thirty two thousand naira.

PROPOSED EXPENDITURE FOR PRO’S OFFICE = 287,200

PROPOSED EXPENDITURE FOR GEN. SECRETARY’S OFFICE =237,100

PROPOSED EXPENDITURE FOR FIN SEC/TREASURER = 118,739.

PROPOSED EXPENDITURE FOR VP = 257,700

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES
2,406,600.

Grand Total of 8557,405 with a deficit of 5478,675,68

However, honourables of the house alleged the union led by Danlab of misappropriation of 300,000 fund – imprest,they ascribed the act as “unconstitutional and putrid” the president had early said that the removal of the 300,000 was approbated by the three head who are the president, speaker and the Chief Justice.

The house Honourables Hon. Omoh ,Hon. Najeem,Hon. Mojeed ,Hon. Awotoro and the likes alleged them of lack of Accountability.

Reacting to the massive proposed budget,a renown comrade who sought for anonymity,also an observer at the budget presentation told NAIJAPARY Reporter that “Both President and the speaker engineered everything as touching the imprest, he added that the Chief Justice wasn’t carried along at all before the disbursement of the 300,000 naira imprest,he accused both president of the SU and the speaker of financial misconduct .

The removal of 300,000 imprest by the union cease to be the bone of contention as the house rained fire, after much scrutinizing and deliberation, the SURC partially approved infinitesimal component of the budget ,while the concerned committee are to go and look after the budget and present it back to the house.
