Fire Service Gives Update As Fire Destroys Over N1.2Million Properties In Osun Shopping Complex

Properties and goods valued at over N1.2million were lost to a fire that destroyed parts of a shopping complex in Osogbo, the state capital of Osun state.

According to reports gathered, the fire which was said to have been caused by power surge engulfed a shopping complex at Orita Aje, around Testing Ground in Osogbo.

One of the shop owners who simply identified himself as Akande told newsmen that the fire which lasted for about 45 minutes started at a computer accessories shop.

He disclosed further that the intervention of the firefighters prevented the fire from gutting the whole shopping complex.

While giving update to our correspondent, the Administrative Officer of the Osun State Fire Service, Fatai Aremu said firefighters were alerted to the incident around 11am.

He said, “Computer accessories and many other items were destroyed in the four shops that were affected in the 13-room shopping complex.

“Items worth over N1.2m were destroyed. Power surge is believed to have caused the fire. Our investigation into the incident is still ongoing.”
